The Flash format is one of the big technologies in use on the internet. But the Free software community has almost completely ignored it. However, this is starting to change now. The Swfdec project is the leading Free implementation of the Flash format and has become the GNOME Flash player with the last release of the GNOME desktop.

In this talk the Swfdec developers will give an in-depth introduction to this topic, from explaining Flash and its features to their ideas about integration of Flash into the GNOME desktop experience. Of course, it will also focus on the Swfdec project and the work that has been, is being and will be done to achieve full compatibility with a closed standard on devices ranging from PPC desktops to embedded devices.
